Naples and Campi Flegrei

Day 1 - BAY AND CUMA
Arrival of the participants, meeting with the cultural operator and start of the activities of guided tours on the field. We will visit the Aragonese Castle, which today houses an archaeological museum with collections of marine finds and breathtaking views over the Gulf of Naples. The visit continues to the submerged city of Baia, which, like the mythical Atlantis, is underwater due to bradysism. An exciting boat trip with a transparent bottom will allow students to observe villas, mosaics and underwater finds. After lunch, we will move to Cuma, the oldest colony of Magna Graecia. Here we will explore the acropolis, guided by the verses of Virgil. We will visit the cave of Sibyl, the temple of Apollo and the temple of Jupiter. The ascent to the acropolis also offers a scenic nature trail, ideal for understanding the historical geography of the area. Continuation to the hotel, accommodation in rooms, dinner and overnight.

Day 2 - POZZUOLI AND THE LAKES
Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Pozzuoli, the ancient Puteoli, one of the most important ports of the Roman Empire. The visit includes the Flavio amphitheatre, one of the largest in the Roman world, with its well-preserved underground that allows you to understand the operation of gladiator shows. Students will explore Roman construction techniques and learn how these public buildings played a crucial role in the social and political life of the time. After lunch, we will continue with a guided tour along the "Way of the Lakes", an opportunity to understand volcanic geography and its historical influences. We will start with the Lucrino lake, known for the cultivation of oysters since the Roman era and to have been a military and commercial port. Next, we will visit the Lake of Averno. In ancient times, this lake was known as the gate to hell. Here, students will hear the legends and myths related to this place, as well as its historical and geological relevance. Finally, we will visit the Lake Fusaro with the Casina Vanvitelliana, a picturesque royal residence of the Bourbons. Students will discover the history of the Bourbon royal family and how they used this site for their recreational activities. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.


Day 3 - NAPLES
Breakfast in the hotel, luggage loading and departure for Naples. The guided tour of the ancient center of Naples will take us to the discovery of the ancient Neapolis, exploring the decumani, the main streets of the Roman city, and listening to the stories related to the myth of the mermaid Partenope. The children will have the opportunity to see emblematic places such as the Church of the New Jesus, the Basilica of Santa Chiara and the famous street of the artisans, San Gregorio Armeno. Lunch in a typical Neapolitan pizzeria to taste the queen of Neapolitan cuisine, Pizza Margherita. After lunch, free time to explore the city further or go shopping. Departure for the return in the afternoon and end of services.
