A journey through ancient Naples: from the Greek walls to the miracle of San Gennaro
Our journey starts right from the port, where you will be welcomed by our expert guide. From here, we will full immersion s in the beating heart of Naples, a place that contains over 27 centuries of history and is the largest historic center in Europe.
Our first stop will take us to discover the ancient Greek walls, silent witnesses of the foundation of the city. Walking through Spaccanapoli, the road that divides the historic center in two, you will find yourself immersed in a mosaic of colours, scents and folklore, typical of Naples. We will continue towards the Church of Gesù Nuovo, famous for its rich baroque decorations. A few steps away, we will visit the Basilica of Santa Chiara, the largest Gothic basilica in the city, with its splendid majolica cloister. The next stop will take us along the famous Via San Gregorio Armeno, known as the "Via dei Presepi". Here, the historic artisan workshops dedicate their work to the art of the Neapolitan nativity scene, creating by hand the characters that animate this tradition. We will then arrive at the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, a magnificent example of French Gothic architecture, famous for its apse, one of the most beautiful in Italy. Our route will finally lead us to the Cathedral of Naples, one of the most important religious buildings in the city. Here you can admire the place where the miracle of the melting of the blood of San Gennaro took place, an event deeply rooted in Neapolitan culture.
During our tour, there will be stops at the famous Pulcinella by Lello Esposito and the "Madonna with the gun", Banksy's only work in Italy, to add a touch of modernity and surprise to our trip. We will conclude our exploration with a return to the port, where you can reflect on the wonders discovered and take with you unforgettable memories of vibrant Naples.
