In Caserta, students will be welcomed by our expert guide for a visit to the extraordinary Royal Palace of Caserta, one of the most magnificent palaces in Europe. Designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli in the 18th century, the Reggia is a masterpiece of baroque architecture that will leave you breathless. During the visit, we will explore together the sumptuous halls of the palace, admire the elegant royal apartments and lose ourselves in the magnificent park, famous for its spectacular fountains and waterfalls. The guide will tell us about the fascinating history of the Reggia, illustrating its importance in Baroque architecture and the central role it played in the history of the Kingdom of Naples. Students will discover how this imposing building not only served as a residence for the royal family, but also represented the power and greatness of the kingdom. After the visit to the Palace, time available for a picnic lunch or in the restaurant. In the afternoon, we will move to Santa Maria Capua Vetere for a visit to the Roman Amphitheatre, one of the largest and oldest in Italy, second only to the Colosseum in Rome. This imposing monument offers a window on life in ancient Capua, one of the most influential cities of Campania during Roman times. Students will explore the ruins of the amphitheater, imagining the spectacular fighting and public events that took place there. The visit will continue with the Gladiator Museum, where we will have the opportunity to discover the living conditions and stories of gladiators who fought in the arena. The guide will provide fascinating details about these fighters and how their lives were intertwined with Roman culture and society.
